Description

Vice President of Academic Affairs
Greenfield Community College (GCC), founded in 1962 and the only institution of higher education in Franklin County, Massachusetts, invites applications and nominations for the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA). The College seeks a visionary, collaborative, and student-centered academic leader, who will provide strategic leadership and direction to the academic departments, overseeing the Dean of Liberal Arts, the Dean of Nursing, the Associate Dean of Allied Health, the Associate Dean of Academic Operations, and the Director of the Nahman-Watson Library.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a passionate advocate for academic excellence who understands that GCC's strength lies in its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible education that transforms the lives of its students and their families. The VPAA will lead with a deep appreciation for the College's mission and vision, championing innovation in teaching and learning while maintaining the caring, supportive environment that defines the GCC experience.
The VPAA will work closely with faculty and staff who are deeply committed to student success. This collaboration will build upon GCC's impressive achievements, including being ranked the #1 Community College in Massachusetts by a 2025 study based on tuition and fees, student-to-faculty ratio, and retention rates. With dedicated support measures, GCC has established itself as an innovator in student-centered approaches that improve completion rates and close equity gaps.
The city of Greenfield offers a blend of small-town charm and community-centered local businesses. A city of roughly 18,000 people, Greenfield is large enough to maintain public amenities and services, yet small enough for residents and community members to engage in local decision-making and make an impact. Greenfield is also part of a region where farming and local food systems play a vital role in community life, as it is surrounded by farmland and a strong agricultural tradition.
