The University of North Texas Health Fort Worth (UNT Health) is seeking a transformational senior academic and clinical leader to lead the department into its next era of strategic growth, shaping the educational, clinical care, and research missions.

The Chair of Family and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) is the immediate supervisor and the academic and administrative leader of the faculty and staff in the Department. The Chair derives responsibility and authority from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) Dean & Vice President for Clinical Affairs, UNT Health Fort Worth. Through this authority, the Chair is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department, long-term strategic development, and the judicious use of all resources allocated to the Department. The Chair holds authority over departmental budgets, faculty-related expenditures for the clinical enterprise, distribution of departmental space, and use of departmental capital equipment. As the senior academic and clinical leader, the Chair works closely with the Dean & Vice President for Clinical Affairs, associate/assistant deans, leadership of the UNT Health Clinical Practice Group, and other department chairs to ensure that departmental academic, clinical, educational, and research programs are commensurate with institutional strategy, accreditation requirements, clinical quality standards, and patient safety priorities.

The Department of Family and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is a multifaceted, interdisciplinary team of dedicated healthcare providers and researchers who are committed to providing excellence in clinical care, primary care education, and research. Through innovative curricular designs, early clinical experiences, and mentorship, the Department is focused on producing highly competent, caring, and compassionate Family Medicine/OMM physicians, helping reduce the shortage of primary care physicians in our Texas communities. The Department has the largest clinical and educational ambulatory primary care clinics within the oldest state-funded osteopathic medical school in Texas: TCOM.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to lead an academic clinical department with integrated education, clinical care, and research missions.
• Strong knowledge of undergraduate and graduate medical education, accreditation standards, and continuous quality improvement principles.
• Proven leadership in faculty recruitment, professional development, mentoring, evaluation, and promotion.
• Ability to oversee and support faculty research and scholarly activity, including fostering collaboration and extramural funding efforts.
• Experience managing complex budgets and clinical operations within an academic health system.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across academic and clinical environments.
• Working knowledge of clinical quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with osteopathic medical education and training environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior service as a department chair, division chief, or comparable senior leadership role in an academic medical center.
• Experience working within an academic clinical practice group or faculty practice plan.
• Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining faculty research and scholarly programs.
• Scholarly record appropriate for appointment at the rank of Professor.

Required License/Certification

• DO degree.
• Active, unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas.
• Active board certification in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOBFP).
• Eligibility for appointment to the medical staff of UNT Health Clinical Practice Group.

Work Schedule

• Full-time, exempt position. Work schedule is generally Monday through Friday; however, evenings, intermittent weekends, and travel may be required to meet departmental, institutional, clinical, and educational responsibilities.
