Reporting to the Associate Provost for Equity and Belonging, the Associate Director for Equity and Belonging is responsible for providing guidance, both academic and nonacademic, to BIPOC students; developing programs and services to promote diversity awareness and understanding within the larger campus community; and serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff, in their efforts to promote equity and inclusion.


  • Oversee and manage all aspects the Edge Experience Program for first year students
  • Recruit, hire and train the Edge Experience Mentors
  • Facilitate monthly Edge Experience programs that provide new students with ongoing social support
  • Provide guidance, support and effective educational training to student organizations, and their leaders, that are based in a deep understanding of power, privilege, intersectionality, and social justice.
  • Collaborate with BIPOC students on events and programming that facilitate identity development, mentorship, personal growth, understanding of social identities, and action towards social change.
  • Work with the Student Engagement Office and lead the development of Celebration Month steering committees and coordinate activities with student organizations that plan and execute these events. (Student organizations may include Black Student Union, Asian Community Coalition, Hispano-Latino Alliance, Allies, Jewish Student Union, Muslim Student Association, etc.).
  • Create a vibrant semester by semester programming schedule
  • Create a social media presence for the ODEI
  • Oversee and organize office inventory and plans/reports as directed by the Associate Provost for Equity and Belonging
  • Collaborate with the Associate Provost to develop and implement an annual strategic plan based on the College and divisional goals.
  • Participate in committees, workshops, and conferences in the local and regional area. 


  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience on a college or university campus in Student Affairs (diversity, student activities, etc.) with proven administrative and programmatic experiences and a deep understanding of diverse cultures and populations. Master’s Degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, or other related field and two years’ experience preferred.
  • Superior organizational and management skills
  • Must be open, supportive, and respectful to people from different demographics (i.e. sexual orientation, religious and spiritual beliefs, genders, race, ethnicity etc.) and can interact with a diverse student body and other constituencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Social media savvy
  • Available to work frequent evenings and weekends.
